Color Club Yahoo Collection (Neon Polishes)

Brace yourselves and wear your sunglasses! :)

It's not everyday that we win something... in fact, this is the first set of polishes that I ever won as a give-away!  Thanks to Color Club Nail Lacquers, yahoo!  Yes, that's right!  This collection is called YAHOO... What a way to celebrate nicer weather indeed (that is to come... soon I hope ;)

As you can tell, I was inspired to do swatches with these lovely colors.  They are beautiful all right.  But I was never one to wear colors that are 'screaming for attention."  Actually, these are genuine scene stealers... they are really bright and cheerful.  These are my first neon polishes ever.  Thanks to Color Club, I finally get to try them and what a treat it is!

Let's start with my favorite color - Yellow...  Yodelehihoo!!!

I used two three coats on this one... Okay, I went overboard, I did it at night and it was dim... lol... yes, yes, I was watching t.v. while doing it... ha ha... I'm guessing two coats would have done it cause I thought it looked pretty great at two.  I added another coat just to be sure.  And walah... Just as I thought, ever happy and beautiful yellow!

Now this truly sumptuous red... One coat and it did the trick... very even application, great opacity and awesome color!

This lovely pink is just as nice.  One coat is all it took and see how really beautiful it is?  Yup, Oohlala is right :)

One coat as well for this refreshingly handsome blue ;)  It's clean and crisp like the clear skies on a bright, cloudless day... Oh it yells summer all over it!

I'm not one to wear green on my nails but my, this color felt right and good on my nails... I don't know, maybe I'm seeing too much white right now that I have been missing the greens?  Either way, this is really beautiful!  I love how it glows against my complexion.  Two coats.

Another winner!  I imagine myself wearing this on a shore somewhere, enjoying nice warm sun, salty air and hot sand.... yes please!  I just loved it... Kudos to my photography (I mean my camera), all these pics are really just how it looks in person... pure delight!

And of course, time to celebrate all the lovely happy colors with some sparkle...  I thought of doing an accent nail here.  The polish, once again, had a great consistency.  It is heavy on the glitter which is really pretty and is very easy to apply.  Two coat and it almost covered all the purple on my ring finger.  Great huh?  Now I wish I did all my nails in gold... another time maybe?

So, you may say I am biased because I had gotten this as a gift.  Oh well, the bias stops at the swatch.  These are the first set of polishes I have ever been inspired to swatch for review.  And then all the rambling are my honest opinions...

The formula is really great.  I am thinking these would be the perfect polishes to do a water-marble with... Just just a simple plain mani.  (There's nothing plain with these colors!) The consistency is just right for great application.  You could get away with one coat... Some colors here I did with one :)  And then I did two for others just to cover up the imperfections of my first coat.  No top-coat on these.  Yet, I am sure that it would even be much brighter and glossier with shiny top-coat ;)

I wonder if it's because the polish is new... a lot of the polish cling to the brush "stem" and if you are not careful, it creates a big glob of polish dripping to ruin your mani...  Actually, in my case I did not mind it at all.  Sometimes I just add it to the polish I was already applying or just quickly save it back into the bottle ;)  Not a deal breaker at all...

Loved how these colors made me feel so happy... :) Thanks again Color Club!

How about you?  Are you a fan of neons?

Revlon Parfumerie Polishes (Limited Edition)

Love collecting polishes but under a strict budget?

Revlon Limited Edition "Parfumerie" Scented Polish
We are alike then :)  But as a prudent shopper that I am, uhmmm, I manage to find good deals somehow... ha ha ha... Mind if I lift my own chair a little bit? ;)  Ok, ok... Sometimes I am just at the right place at the right time...

We'll, dear loving hubby helped me dig out some awesome polish bottles from a bin of clearance items at the drugstore.  Airmiles was the one the initially drew me to the bin. (Yes, I am wishing for a trip and the bin had a sign for bonus airmiles on it... fancy!)  And walah!  I found a precious nugget priced at $1.74... As you may imagine, I got really excited and started digging for more.  Yellow is my favorite color but I haven't really tried that on my nails... yet...  So, I was hoping for one.  Well, didn't find one.  Still, got a total of 8 bottles and what an awesome find indeed!

I got a total of 8 bottles... the single remnant of each color in the bin.  The green had a leak as the head was full of dried polish.  Hubby warned me about it.  After asking him to open it up with his strong hand, uhmmm, I confirmed the bottle isn't broken so I still bought it.  The light colors looks like they've been swatched by a curious shopper at one time, but the darker colors looks sleek and new :)

Wintermint
Since we are having yet another snowstorm (oh spring where are you???)... I tried the green called "Wintermint" first.  I thought the name is quite appropriate, ha ha...  It was also the most unique in the haul.  So here it goes...

The polish had a strong smell to it during application  The smell is just like any polish, chemicals!  Then slowly, that strong smell turned into a pleasant minty aroma.  I liked it, it was like sweet-mint-gum.  Hubby complained of the strong scent but that's because he's sensitive to anything with scents or stench, lol.  He usually have an allergic reaction to scents and perfumes but no reaction on this one (just in case that info is helpful :)...  Further, i thought the mint was quite pleasing.

Wintermint with some embellishments :)
I applied two coats and it gave a great coverage.  One coat is also a nice sheer :)  It was easy to apply.  Considering the polishes hard past, this polish did not disappoint at all.  While it was drying, I thoroughly enjoyed the scent.  It disappeared once I washed my hand.  But I guess the experience relies on the application process and I am very content with that.

Looking forward to trying out and sniffing the other shades/scents.

Do you have experiences with scented polishes?

Rosettes (Featuring Selina from Nicole by OPI)

Don't you love flowers?  And spring? And warm weather?  How about cheerful colors?

Ah... Well, I am looking forward to spring, sooo much, with all my heart... ha ha ha... Who doesn't?  Not only am I eager too feel the warmth of sunny days... I am also eager to see flowers blooming and me waking up for hibernation...  Anyone else?

The birds sing beautifully too and I could just hear it from inside the house.  It's been missing for what seems like forever now...  Please come back soon :)

In the spirit of cheerful colors and beautiful flowers, I decided to practice making rosettes on my nails.  What do you think?  There's is always a first for everything and we won't know if we can succeed unless we try, right?  So, how did I do?

A floral design featuring "HOLLY" from Julep

It was another stormy day and the snow is piling fast outside.  The cold wind and the gloomy skies make everything outside the window dark and sad...  Good thing I could cuddle up in a blanket near this lovely fireplace and enjoy it's warmth.  Oh, keeping up with it made my hands and nails black with charcoal and my right thumbnail was compromised.  That is sad but I cared more for the warmth.  The clean-up afterwards inspired me to do a whole pampering-session for my hands and walah!  I got inspired to finish up the works with a nice nail art.

I started with "Holly" from Julep - a beautiful, shimmery, dark green with a bluish tone to it.  It applied quite nicely over my basecoat.  It was opaque and the consistency was great.  But I opted to apply two thin coats as usual.  I added "Portia" also from Julep, a mix of green, blue and silver glitters, over a gradient-dab of "Holly" for some pretty effect. The minty green is called "Jade" from Avon.

Then staring at the polish to dry, waiting for a few minutes... You know what happens next - Yup, to add this and that... and I came up with some flower petals...

Finished it up with my favorite topcoat - the Freedom Polymer from Julep. What do you think of the outcome?

Please do comment below and let me know your opinion.  I hope you have a happy and refreshing weekend :)

Girly Glitter from Revlon (Instant Manicure)

Well, I had written a few letters to mail... (Yup, hand-written, those are rare these days, huh?)  Anyway, I ran out of stamps so instead of going to the post-office, I opted instead to go to the drugstore.  I can mail my letters and check out on some nail polishes along the way.  Wiii! Can you believe it?  The aisle that goes directly to the post-office desk is actually the nail-polish aisle... (I knew that all along... works for me!)

I spotted this pink glitter polish from Revlon called girly.  It is different from all the other polishes in the rack so it caught my attention.  It was on sale!  Yahoo, I could try it.  And here is the result.  It looked weird in the bottle but it's actually really girly once applied.   Instant nail art for busy girls, I'd say :)  Well, I was so pleased.

The bottle was full of glitters that there wasn't any problem grabbing to a good amount for the nails.  I used two coats on this one.  I wore it without basecoat and topcoat cause I was in a rush... That wasn't a good idea.  The glitters were coming off one by one.  Although the design is quite feminine and pretty, I was getting many compliments for it.  But much better to protect it with a top-coat, next time...

How about you?  Do you care or not for this design?

Have a great day pretty ladies!
